According to the reports coming out stats that some of the computers of White House computer networks has been breached by the hackers and it is believed that the hackers would be working for the Russian government. The hack resulting in temporary disruptions to some services while cyber security teams worked to contain the intrusion.

A representative from White House, (who ask to be anonymous) says that the hacker have only accessed those computer which had unclassified data. Nothing damaged to any important service or files.
“In the course of assessing recent threats, we identified activity of concern on the unclassified Executive Office of the President network,” said one White House official. “We took immediate measures to evaluate and mitigate the activity. . . . Unfortunately, some of that resulted in the disruption of regular services to users. But people were on it and are dealing with it.”
Although all US intelligence team, FBI, Secret Service and National Security Agency is working together in the investigation of the breach. However White House have not commented any thing on this issue neither they have commented who was behind the intrusion or how much data was lost [If in case].

White House official says that the cyber attacks on the White House computer networks is regular to access and gain sensitive information.
“Certainly a variety of actors find our networks to be attractive targets and seek access to sensitive information,” the White House official said. “We are still assessing the activity of concern.
As the breached was discovered two-three weeks ago and some White House staff were asked to change their passwords. Moreover the hack caused temporary disruptions in some of the computer network services, where email systems were also temporary down - which was later on restarted.
As White House Intranet and VPN access were shut down for some time for the security reasons.

The believe was to the Russia because, recently Security firm FireEye have published a report about the cyber espionage campaigns by Russian hackers thought to be working for the government. Hackers have targeted NATO, the Ukrainian government and U.S. defense contractors.
