One of the biggest and most trusted Bitcoin exchange site - Bitstamp have been targeted by hackers which leads to the theft of 19,000 BTC worth $5 Million (As per current BTC value). The hacking news was announced by the exchange on Monday.
In the meantime, the official site of Bitstamp is showing a warning message for its customers with the title Maintenance. In the warning statement, Bitstamp warned its users not to submit Bitcoins to the previously issued address.
Bitstamp has temporarily suspended all its service of bitcoin transactions, to prevent further lose. The investigation of the hack is going on, Company have suspended all its user's account and blocked all users who deposited Bitcoins.
This is not the first time that hackers have targeted the Bitcoin Exchange site. As earlier one of the popular Bitcoin Stock Exchanges MtGox has also been hacked and hackers had stolen 750,000 BTC, which makes the company insolvent. Additionally, deep-web site SlikRoad 2 has also suffered from the loss of $2 million bitcoins following a hack.
Till yet there is no evidence regarding Bitstamp's hack, but the company has assured that they had reserved their user's bitcoin in a safe Cold offline storage, and soon Bitstamp service will be back in a new and safe environment.

"We have temporarily suspended Bitstamp services. As an additional security measure, we suspended our systems while we fully investigate the incident and actively engage with law enforcement officials" - Bitstamp wrote on statement.The company has assured its users that a small fraction of Bitstamp's total bitcoin reserves were affected by this breach and the overwhelming majority of which are held in secure offline cold storage systems. Bitstamp has also said that all customers’ "balances held prior to our temporary suspension of services will not be affected and will be honored in full."
