Assassin's Creed Shadows Leaks Month Before Release

Ubisoft's highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows has leaked nearly a month before its official March 20 release date, with physical copies and digital codes finding their way into players' hands prematurely.

The developer has confirmed the legitimacy of leaked gameplay footage online, emphasizing that these early builds "do not represent the final quality of the game."

Set in 16th-century Japan, Assassin's Creed Shadows features two playable protagonists: Naoe, a female ninja, and Yasuke, based on the historical figure known as "the African samurai."

The title has been positioned as a potential turning point for Ubisoft following what industry observers describe as a challenging year for the French gaming giant.

In a statement posted to X (formerly Twitter), the Assassin's Creed community team acknowledged the situation while urging restraint:

"Leaks are unfortunate and can diminish the excitement for players. We kindly ask you not to spoil the experience for others." The company confirmed its development team is "still working on patches to prepare the experience for launch."

The leaked material, now circulating on Twitch, X, and Reddit, includes gameplay footage and critical story details.

Reports suggest the leak may have originated from physical copies manufactured for the game's February 14 release date. Modern games typically receive day-one patches to address issues discovered after physical production is completed.

Ubisoft has taken a proactive stance, urging fans to refrain from sharing spoilers to preserve the experience for the wider audience. With Assassin's Creed Shadows poised as a potential flagship title for the publisher, its success could signal a turnaround amid recent challenges. For now, caution is recommended when navigating social media to avoid unintended spoilers.

As the release date nears, Ubisoft continues refining the game, promising a polished experience in March. Tech enthusiasts and fans alike are encouraged to follow official updates from Ubisoft for the latest developments on this highly anticipated title—one that could redefine the franchise’s legacy in the gaming industry.
